Obituary

It is with great sadness that the society announces the death of one of our longest serving members.

Crispin Ridge has sung with the society since 1970 with his first performance being The Rio Grande (Lambert). He also sang many bass solos under the baton of John Taylor

He was a very loyal and active member of the society serving several terms as Chairman and Vice Chairman.

He will also be remembered for his flute playing at social events and for his ability to bring texts to life, particularly readings from Charles Dickens.

About Us
Dudley and District Choral and Orchestral Society was formed in 1945 and gave it's first performance in Dudley Town Hall on the 29th December. They  performed Handel's Messiah under the baton of the founder Dr Mainwaring. Since then there have been seven conductors.
In that first performance there were 114 ladies and 70 gentlemen. Today we have a more modest chorus of approximately 30 members. However we would always welcome new members! In the past we have had orchestral accompaniment, but also perform with just a pianist or organist to accompany us, depending on the work being performed.
